Black Tea Sampler Pack from Darjeeling, Assam, Bihar, Dooars, Nepal

Black Tea Sampler Pack

Black tea was discovered in China almost 4000 years ago. Today, it is one of the most consumed beverages in the world. Black tea accounts for up to 85% of total tea consumption globally. Like all teas, black teas also come from the plant ‘Camellia Sinensis’. The oxidizing process varies while making different types of teas. Black teas are oxidized a little longer, giving them a robust taste with a strong aroma and rich flavour.

You will find hundreds of varieties in the Black Tea family. Each one has a unique oxidization process. At ExoTeas, you will find only high-grade loose-leaf orthodox and CTC black teas sourced from some of the finest tea growing regions in the world.

Darjeeling Black Tea

Like we all know, some of the world-famous prestigious teas are grown in the lush valleys of the Darjeeling district. Darjeeling black tea is praised among the world's best teas, owing to its soil, climate, mountain mist and rain. There are more than 80 tea estates spread across the seven valleys of the Darjeeling district. Darjeeling black tea is defined by four major harvesting periods: first flush, second flush, rain flush and autumn flush. The first and second flush black tea is usually the best. The first flush starts in March and last for about two months. The second flush: from the end of May till mid-July. Rain flush: from July end till mid-September. And lastly, the autumn flush starts from the end of September till November.

Assam black teas are famous for being malty and strong. There are two plucking seasons- first flush and second flush. The first flush lasts for up to two months, starting from March, and the second flush starts from June. Teas harvested during the second flush is called ‘tippy tea’ because they have golden tips. These teas have a delicate aroma and unique flavours. Lately, the demand for this tea has been rising among tea enthusiasts.
